Suzanne Vega was born as Suzanne Nadine Peck on 11th July 1959 in Santa Monica, California, USA, is divorced and has a daughter. She is a singer/songwriter and musician.
When she was a kid, Suzanne went to a Performing Arts school and took modern dance lessons. She started writing poems when she was 9 years old and later began to write songs, inspired by big artists like Bob Dylan and Lou Reed, amongst others.
Vega graduated in 1977 and later studied English Literature at college. Whilst still at school, she sang in small places like cafes, specialising in folk-inspired music. She even managed to get some of her tracks published on a magazine and in 1984 obtained a recording contract.
The following year, her debut album was released, including the song ‘Marlene on the Wall’. It was successful, and likewise the subsequent album issued in 1987 which featured the US number 3 track ‘Luka’, which was also an international hit single. Another major hit for Suzanne was ‘Tom’s Diner’, also included in said album.
Vega’s third album came out in 1990, followed by 2 more for the rest of the 90s. She also had a couple of songs which featured in some movies. In the last 2 decades, Suzanne released 16 albums, 4 music videos, an EP and 11 singles. She also collaborated with several artists and bands.
Suzanne published a book featuring her own poetry and literature, co-wrote a theatrical play and even performed in a musical. She also received 9 awards including 2 Grammy.
