Marian Gold, real name Hartwig Schierbaum, was born on 26th May 1954 in Herford, Germany, and is best known as the German synth-pop group Alphaville’s lead singer.  He was married and has 7 children.

When he was in his twenties, Marian created the group’ Chinchilla Green’, and 12 years later, formed the band ‘Forever Young’, which then changed its name to ‘Alphaville’. This title was taken from a sci-fi movie released way back in 1965.

He sang several of the group’s hits like ‘Forever Young’, ‘Dance with Me’, ‘Sounds Like a Melody’ and ‘Big in Japan, amongst others.  Gold is the only existing group member since its formation, as all the others were replaced.

Marian released ‘So Long Celeste’, his first album as a solo artist, in 1992.  The second one followed 4 years after.

In 2018, Gold and Alphaville went to Hollywood, USA and presented 2 concerts in 2 days which were also live-streamed.

By the end of this year, a symphonic album of the band’s songs will be released, including 3 new singles, as declared by Marian himself earlier this year.
