American actor Adam Richard Sandler was born 56 years ago in Brooklyn, New York, is married and has 2 sons. Apart from acting, he is also a comedian, film producer, writer and singer.
When he was 6, his family moved to Manchester, New Hampshire where he went to high school and later graduated from New York University.
His career took off in 1987, when he acted in an episode of the TV sitcom ‘The Cosby Show’ as well as took part in a game show. Two years later, he starred in the movie ‘Overboard’ and also gave performances in comedy clubs. For 5 years, Adam wrote songs for a famous late-night comedy show and also sang them during the show.
During the 90s, Adam starred in several comedy movies including ‘Coneheads’, ‘Airheads’, ‘Billy Madison’, ‘The Wedding Singer’ and ‘The Waterboy’, amongst others. In 1999, Sandler created his own business producing films. Although many of the movies produced by his company were negatively criticised, they did well in the box office.
After the success of ‘The Waterboy’, Adam gained further popularity and appreciation with the movie ‘Punch-drunk love’ and was even nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.
In the next 2 decades, Adam performed in various movies, acting mostly in comical roles and a few more serious ones. To name a few: ‘Reign on Me’, ‘Grown Ups’, ‘Funny People’, ‘Just Go with it’, ‘Blended’, ‘Pixels’, ‘Ridiculous 6’, ‘Uncut Gems’, ‘Hustle’, ‘Sandy Wexler’ and ‘The Week of’.
