CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY TODAY...BILL MURRAY

American actor and comedian William James Murray was born 72 years ago in Evanston, Illinois, is divorced and has 6 sons.

When he was a teenager, Bill used to read children’s biographies, worked as a golf caddy and was even the lead singer of a rock band.  After graduation, he went to university but quit almost immediately.  With his brother’s help, Bill managed to join a comedy troupe and later travelled to New York and started working on a radio show.

During the rest of the 70s, Bill was cast in a couple of TV comedy shows which rendered him famous and in 1979 he managed to get his first movie role.  This was followed by starring in several other films like ‘Caddyshack’, ‘Tootsie’ and the hit movie ‘Ghostbusters’, amongst others.

After a 4-year hiatus to study history and philosophy as well as spend more time with his family, Bill resumed acting and starred in ‘Scrooged’ and ‘Ghostbusters II’ in the late 80s.

In the last 3 decades, Bill acted in over 50 films and took part in more than 12 TV shows/productions.  Three new movies are also in the pipeline.  During his long career, Bill won a British Academy Film, a Golden Globe and 2 Primetime Emmy Awards.
