Singer Bryan Guy Adams was born on 5th November 1959 in Ontario, Canada and has 2 children. He is also a guitarist, composer and photographer.
When he was 12 years old, Bryan bought his very first electric guitar and quit school to become a member of a band named ‘Shock’. He also bought a piano with the funds his mum and dad had saved to pay his college and worked a couple of jobs to pay for rent.
Bryan went to concerts by Tina Turner, Elton John and Led Zeppelin, to name a few, and joined several other bands until he became the singer of a group named ‘Sweeney Todd’ who played regularly in a pub when he was 15. In 1976, he left the group and 2 years later met Jim Vallance who had just left another band. They became partners and began to compose songs for various famous artists like Joe Cocker, Neil Diamond, Kiss and Rod Stewart, amongst others.
Adam’s first album was released in 1980, gaining moderate success, followed by a second one a year later which included the number 3 US hit ‘Lonely Nights’. In 1983, the album ‘Cuts like a Knife’ came out and was a breakthrough for Bryan. It included hits like ‘Straight from the Heart’, ‘This Time’ and ‘I’m Ready’. Bryan became a real rockstar with his next album ‘Reckless’ which featured big hits such as ‘Summer of ’69’, ‘Run to You’ and the number one ballad ‘Heaven’.
During the last 3 decades, Adams continued releasing more and more albums and gaining more popularity all over the world. One of his iconic songs is ‘Everything I do, I do it for You’, written for the soundtrack of the movie ‘Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves’ and which sold over 15 million copies globally and is considered as an all-time best-selling single.
Some other of his most famous songs include ‘Heat of the Night’, ‘Can’t Stop this thing we Started’, ‘Please forgive Me’, ‘All for Love’ sung with Sting and Rod Stewart ‘Have you ever really loved a Woman?’, ’18 til I Die’ and ‘When you’re Gone’ sung in duet with Mel C.
Bryan is also a professional photographer and has provided his services to numerous prominent people such as the Queen, singers, actors etc as well as big trading companies.
Adams is a huge philanthropist and supports several charitable institutions concerning animal rights, the environment, hear loss, Childrens’ rights, etc.
During his long career, Bryan achieved no less than 130 awards, including 20 Juno, 1 Grammy, 3 Ivor Novello, a Golden Jubilee and a Diamond Jubilee Medal amongst many, many other awards and honours and is considered as one of the best-selling musicians ever.
