English actress and singer Amelia Fiona Jessica ‘Minnie’ Driver was born in London 53 years ago, is engaged and has a son.
Until the age of 6, Minnie was raised in Barbados and nicknamed Minnie by her older sister during childhood. She attended boarding school, college and a Dramatic Art academy.
In 1991, Minnie made her first TV appearance in a deodorant commercial and later performed on stage singing jazz and playing the guitar. In the next 4 years, she acted in several TV series in small and more important roles, but became more noticed when she starred in the film ‘Circle of Friends’. For the rest of the 90s, Minnie continued with her acting and played various characters in movies like ‘Goldeneye’, ‘Sleepers’, ‘Big Night’, ‘Good Will Hunting’ and ‘Hard Rain’, amongst others. She also voiced characters in 2 animated movies.
In the next 2 decades, Minnie returned to TV roles and was cast in drama series as well as sitcoms. She also starred in more movies and will be cast in 2 films later this year.
Apart from being an actress, Minnie is also a singer. As a teenager, she was a band member and a few years later performed in a US festival. Her first album was released in 2004, featuring the songs ‘Everything I’ve got in my Pocket’ and ‘Invisible Girl’ which made it in the UK Top 100. Most of the tracks included in the album were written by Minnie herself.
That same year, she sang in the film ‘The Phantom of the Opera’. Two more albums were released in 2007 and 2014 and in 2021, Minnie introduced a programme where she asked guests a series of questions.
Driver is also the recipient of 8 awards.
