Saturday, 11th February 2023, the much-awaited final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest was held at the MFCC Ta’ Qali, and was hosted by previous ESC entrants Amber and Glen Vella.

During the month of January, 40 songs participated in the 3 semi-finals, out of which 24 contestants advanced to the semi-final held on 9th February.  Sixteen songs were eventually chosen to compete in the final.  All artists were given support through the course of the competition by 4 established singers, namely: Moira Stafrace, Mike Spiteri, Paul Giordmaina and Ludwig Galea, whilst 5 judges evaluated the songs, with their votes combined with those of the public.

The winning entry of this year’s contest is the song ‘Dance (Our own Party)‘ interpreted by the indie pop boy band ‘The Busker‘ with a total of 121 points.  The song ‘In the Silence‘ by Ryan Hili placed second, followed by ‘Up.‘ by Matt Blxck in third place with 85 points and 76 points respectively.

Coming May, ‘The Busker’ will be representing Malta in the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Liverpool, UK.
