Italian singer Gigi D’Alessio was born 56 years ago as Luigi D’Alessio in Naples and has 5 children. He is also a songwriter and record producer, musician, actor and TV presenter.
As a child he learnt briefly the accordion and took piano lessons. When he was 21, Gigi got a diploma in piano and worked with famous Neapolitan song artists. In 1992, his first album was released, followed by seven more for the rest of the 90s. In 1999, he performed in a Gala Night in front of the then President of the USA, Bill Clinton as well as was protagonist and singer in a movie called ‘Annare`’.
During the next 2 decades, Gigi participated 5 times in the yearly prestigious San Remo Festival and his best ranking was when he placed 2nd with ‘L’amore che non c’e`’ in 2005. D’Alessio issued eighteen more albums and toured numerous European countries as well as Australia, USA and Canada.
Gigi acted as judge in some TV shows like ’24mila voci’, ‘Castrocaro Festival’, ‘Prodigi – Music is Life’, ‘Tali e Quali’ and ‘San Remo Giovani’. He coached participants in ‘The Voice of Italy’ and ‘The Voice Senior’ as well as performed in charity events and conducted variety shows. He was also cast in a couple of movies and a TV series. D’Alessio also wrote numerous songs for other Italian artists.
During his career, Gigi sold around 27 million records worldwide and also won some awards, including a Telegatto.
