Actor and singer Russell Ira Crowe was born 59 years ago in the capital city of New Zealand, Wellington, is divorced and has 2 sons.
At the age of 4, Russell and his family moved to Australia and there he attended grammar and high school. As a child, he acted briefly in a series. When Russell was 14, his family moved back to New Zealand and he continued his studies, however, he left school 2 years later to fulfil his acting dream.
In the beginning of the 80s, Russell tried his luck as a musician and released some singles, however, none of them entered the charts. So, he left New Zealand and went back to Australia with the intention of studying at a dramatic art institute, but he decided not to apply as according to someone, he had gained the necessary experience from working at a theatre.
So his acting career took off in 1986 and until the end of that decade Russell performed in several musicals. He starred in his very first movie ‘The Crossing’ in 1990. After acting in some more Australian films, he starred in a Canadian movie in 1993 and then proceeded with his career and began to act in American films.
In the last 3 decades, Russell was cast in numerous movies including major ones like ‘Gladiator’, ‘The Insider’, ‘A Beautiful Mind’ and ‘L.A. Confidential’. Some other films he starred in are ‘Cinderella Man’, ‘Robin Hood’, ‘Man of Steel’, ‘Noah’, ‘The Mummy’ and the latest one ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. Crowe will be the main protagonist in an upcoming film named ‘The Pope’s Exorcist’, which is supposed to be released on 13 April 2023.
Russell also formed some music bands, released several songs and toured different countries to promote their material. He is also into sports, especially rugby, cricket and football. Being a philanthropist, Crowe has also supported some schools in his native New Zealand by giving donations for their projects.
During his long career, Russell appeared in over 50 movies and more than 10 TV series. He received 31 awards including 18 Critics’, 1 Academy, 2 Golden Globe, 4 AACTA and 1 BAFTA, amongst others.
