Italian singer and songwriter Aleandro Baldi was born 64 years ago as Aleandro Civai in Greve in Chianti.
Although he was born blind, Aleandro managed to learn to play several instruments and write songs. He was noticed by a record producer after listening to some of his songs and saw that he had good potential.
So, in 1986, Aleandro’s career took off when he participated in the annual San Remo Festival with his self-composed song ‘La Nave Va’, placing second in the ‘Youth’ category. The following year his first album was released and he was also the winner of the summer festival ‘Un Disco Per L’Estate’ with the song ‘La Curva dei Sorrisi’. In 1989, he participated for the second time in the San Remo Festival and arriving third in the ’emerging’ section with ‘E sia Cosi`’.
San Remo Festival victory finally arrived in 1992, when the song composed by himself ‘Non Amarmi’ won the ‘New Proposals’ category, which was also sung in duet with Francesca Alotta. Interesting to note is that this track was translated to Spanish and was interpreted by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, becoming an international hit.
Two years later, Aleandro triumphed with the song ‘Passera`’, also composed by himself, this time in the ‘Champions’ category. By the end of the 90s, Aleandro performed at the Viva Napoli Festival as well as the San Remo one, plus releasing his 5th album.
In the last 2 decades, Baldi released 3 more albums. He also appeared in some TV programmes and important events related to music as well as football like the ‘Zecchino D’Oro’ and ‘La Partita del Cuore’, amongst others.
