American actress and former model Rosalie Anderson MacDowell was born 65 years ago in Gaffney, South Carolina, is divorced and has 3 children.
In 1976, Andie graduated from high school, then attended university for 2 years and subsequently signed a modelling contract after she was noticed by an agency rep. In fact, she posed for a magazine as well as appeared in various commercials of famous brands in the fashion and cosmetics industries.
Andie’s acting career took off in 1984 when she starred as Jane in ‘Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes’ alongside Christopher Lambert who played Tarzan. The following year, she had a supporting role in ‘St Elmo’s Fire’.
MacDowell then started to study method acting and in 1989 was offered a role in ‘Sex, Lies and Videotape’ which won her a couple of awards and led the way to more roles. She in fact starred in ‘Green Card’, ‘Object of Beauty’ and ‘Short Cuts’. But real fame arrived during the 90s when Andie acted in the fantasy comedy film ‘Groundhog Day’ and the romantic comedy movie ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’.
In the last 2 decades, Andie proceeded with her career and focused mainly on TV productions like series and made-for-television movies, however, she did act in a couple of films namely ‘Harrison’s Flowers’ and ‘Ready or Not’.
To date, MacDowell won 8 awards, including a LAFCA, a Special, an Independent Spirit and a Saturn, amongst others.
