Italian singer and songwriter Max Pezzali was born as Massimo Pezzali on 14th November 1967 in Pavia, is married and has a son. He is best known as the lead singer of the pop/rock duo ‘883’.
During high school, Max became friends with Mauro Repetto, who like him, loved rock and roll music. Together, they travelled to the US for a vacation and whilst there, they bought CDs, a drumkit as well as a synthesizer. Back home to Italy, they began to write music and went on to form the band ‘883’. The name ‘883’ derived from the Harley-Davidson motorbike Sportster, since both Max and Mauro were huge fans of motorbikes.
In 1991, the duo participated in the Castrocaro Music Festival with the song ‘Non me la Menare’ which was an instant hit in their country. In the 2 years that followed, their first and second albums were released, featuring the number one hits ‘Hanno ucciso il Uomo Ragno’, ‘ Sei un Mito’ and ‘Come Mai’.
Mauro wanted to become a film director and so in 1994, he left ‘883’ and moved to the US to pursue his dream. Meanwhile, Max introduced new members to the band and continued releasing several successful albums for the rest of the 90s and early 2000s.
In 2002, Max decided to start a career as a solo artist, so he left ‘883’ and released his first solo album 2 years later. It proved very successful, as were the albums that followed. He toured Italy performing in many concerts, and even sang with other Italian artists like Francesco Renga and Nek. Also, he had an album published featuring song duets with various popular singers.
So far, Max released 5 studio albums, 2 live albums and 4 compilations. With the band ‘883’ he had 11 albums. Pezzali also wrote 3 books, starred in a movie and appeared in a few reality shows. In 2013, he was nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award in the ‘Best Italian Act’ category.
