British actress Jacqueline Bisset was born 80 years ago as Winifred Jacqueline Fraser Bisset in Weybridge, Surrey and is unmarried without children.
Jacqueline attended primary and secondary school and took ballet lessons. Her mum taught her the French language which she fluently speaks and later, she worked as a fashion model and with the money she earned she paid for acting lessons.
Bisset’s career took off in 1965 when she appeared in an uncredited role in the movie ‘The Knack… and how to get It’. The following year marked her official film debut when she starred in the black comedy psychological thriller ‘Cul-de-sac’. For the rest of the 60s, Jacqueline acted in 9 more movies including ‘Casino Royale’, ‘The Sweet Ride’ and ‘Bullitt’.
In 1970, along with many other famous actors and actresses, Bisset starred in the disaster movie ‘Airport’ which was a big success. That same year, she also had a part in ‘The Grasshopper’. Afterwards, she appeared in some more films of different genres and travelled to France, Italy, Germany and the US to act alongside famous actors of those respective countries such as Jean-Paul Belmondo, Marcello Mastroianni, Jon Voigt and Charles Bronson.
Jacqueline gained popularity when she starred in the movie ‘The Deep’ and became a household name by 1978. She proceeded with her career and from the end of the 70s to date has acted in more than 40 movies and over 30 TV productions including TV films and series. Bisset’s image also appeared on the front cover of over 300 magazines, as well as was involved in adverts of a famous cosmetic company.
In her long career, Jacqueline won a Golden Globe Award in 2013 for her role in the series ‘Dancing on the Edge’. She also received The Legion of Honour which is France’s highest honour in 2010.
