American actor Rex Smith was born 69 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida, is married and has 5 children.
Rex’s career started in the early 70s in the music industry, when he was lead singer of 3 different bands: ‘Tricks’, ‘Phaedra’ and ‘Rex’. From 1976 til the year 2000, he released 11 albums and 7 singles, and in 1978 had a hit single named ‘You take my breath Away’ which featured in his third album and reached number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
That same year i.e. 1978, he made his stage debut on Broadway when he portrayed Danny Zuko in the famous musical ‘Grease’. Since then, Rex performed in 18 other theatrical plays including ‘West Side Story’, ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’, ‘Kiss Me, Kate’, and ‘Aida’, amongst others.
His acting career on TV and the big screen took off in 1979 and to date has starred in 14 movies and 24 TV productions including TV series, sitcoms, live shows and a soap opera. To name a few: ‘The Trial of the Incredible Hulk’ ‘A Passion to Kill’, ‘The Love Boat’, ‘Solid Gold’, ‘Murder, She Wrote’, ‘As the World Turns’, ‘The Sentinel’, ‘Baywatch’ and ‘Just Cause’. He is surely best known for his lead role as Jesse Mach in the 1985 action series ‘Street Hawk’, starring also Jeannie Wilson and Joe Regalbuto.
