Maltese singer-songwriter Chiara Siracusa, better known as Chiara, was born 48 years ago in Senglea and is in a relationship.
Chiara’s singing career began in 1998. That year, she won the Malta Song For Europe contest and represented her country in the Eurovision song contest with the song ‘The One that I Love’, held in Birmingham, England. At one time, she was holding the first place, but ended up third after the final voting country did not give her song any points. She was preceded by winner Dana International from Israel and Imaani from the UK. Chiara revealed that she was extremely disappointed at first, but at the same time thought that it was an achievement to receive such a high scoring.
The story repeated itself 7 years later, when Chiara competed once again the Malta Song for Europe and was victorious with the ballad ‘Angel’ penned and composed by herself. Consequently, she travelled to Kyiv in Ukraine where the 2005 edition of the ESC was held to represent Malta for the second time. On this occasion, she arrived in second place with 192 points, rendering the track as the most successful ESC Maltese entry ever.
After this great success, Chiara continued with her career and worked not just in Malta but also in other European countries, particularly Cyprus and Greece. In 2008, she was the host of the Malta Song For Europe competition.
The following year, Chiara represented her country for the third time in the ESC with the track ‘What if We’, arriving in the 22nd place. In 2010, she was the spokesperson for Malta, giving the voting points in the final night.
To date, Chiara released 5 albums and 1 single.
