Irish actor and novelist John Lynch was born 63 years ago in Corrinshego, Newry, is divorced and has 4 children.

As a kid, he attended college where he performed in school plays in the Irish language.  His acting career took off in 1984 when he starred in the drama movie ‘Cal’ alongside actress Helen Mirren.  That was the only film he acted during the 80s, but he also appeared in a documentary in 1988.

During the 90s, John had leading and supporting roles in 16 films of different genres and 8 TV productions which include ‘1871’, ‘Edward II’, ‘The Secret Garden’, ‘In the name of the Father’, ‘Angel Baby’, ‘Moll Flanders’, ‘Sliding Doors’, ‘All Good Things’, ‘Chimera’ and ‘Peak Practice’.  In the last 24 years, Lynch proceeded with his career and appeared in over 30 movies and 25 made-for-TV movies and series. 

During his career so far, John won 3 awards i.e. an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role and a Film Critics of Australia Award for Male Best Actor, both for his role in the film ‘Angel Baby’ in 1995 and 1996 respectively, as well as a Jury Award for Best Actor in the movie ‘Best’.
