American actress and director Anjelica Huston was born 74 years ago in Los Angeles, California, is widowed and does not have any children.
When Angelica was still a toddler, her family moved to County Kildare in Ireland and she attended primary and secondary school. Afterwards, they moved to England.
In 1969, Huston made her big screen debut in the movie ‘A Walk with Love and Death’ directed by her father. When she was 16, Angelica was photographed together with her mum (who was a model) in Switzerland and appeared in a famous fashion magazine. Some time later, her mother died and Angelica decided to leave the UK as she could not bear with the memories she had there. She moved to New York and pursued a career in modelling which she did for about 9 years.
In 1976, Huston decided to quit her modelling job to concentrate on acting and had a small role in ‘The Last Tycoon’. Her next movie appearance was 5 years later in ‘The Postman always rings Twice’, starring also Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange. For the rest of the 80s, Angelica starred in 12 more films and made her career breakthrough with her interpretation in the black comedy-crime film ‘Prizzi’s Honor’.
Over the years, Angelica continued with her career and appeared in over 45 movies and more than 20 TV productions, some of which she was also the director/producer/executive producer, as well as voiced animated movie characters. Probably, her most popular role is that of Morticia Addams in the 2 movies ‘The Addams Family’ and ‘The Addams Family Values’ released in the 90s. At the moment, she is undergoing filming of a new movie named ‘The Christmas Witch Trial of La Befana’.
Angelica is also an active philanthropist and supports several charitable institutions, particularly those regarding animal welfare. She has also published 4 books.
During her career to date, Huston won 37 awards out of 71 nominations. These include an Academy, a Golden Globe, a Satellite and 2 Boston Society of Film Critics. She was also awarded with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010.
