Italian singer-songwriter and musician Ron was born 72 years ago as Rosalino Cellamare in Dorno, Pavia.
Ron was introduced to music by his older brother who was a pianist. From a very young age, he took singing lessons and his teacher enrolled him to compete in several singing contests. During one of these events, Ron was noticed by a talent scout who offered him a record contract, so he went to Rome with his dad to sign it on his behalf as he was still a minor.
In 1969, Ron participated in the musical event ‘Cantagiovani’ even though he had not released any songs yet. The following year, 16-year old Ron competed for the first time in the prestigious yearly festival of San Remo and sang the track ‘Pa` diglielo a Ma` in duet with Nada. That same year, he was the winner of another festival called ‘Caravalla di Successi’.
Ron then started co/writing songs, both for himself and for other artists as well. His debut studio album was released in February 1973 and 9 months later, his second album came out. He continued song-writing and in 1978 participated for the first time in ‘Festivalbar’ and in 6 more editions until 1996. In 1982, he won the contest with the track ‘Anima’. With regards to the San Remo Festival, Ron competed 7 more times between 1988 and 2018 and together with singer Tosca was the winner of the 1996 edition with the song ‘Vorrei incontrarti fra cent’anni’. In 1992, he had a hit track named ‘Non abbiam bisogno di Parole’ which became one of his most famous songs.
From the beginning of his career to date, Ron released 23 studio, 4 live and 14 collection albums, 3 extended plays and 47 singles. He sang in duet with more than 25 artists like Tosca, Anna Oxa, Lucio Dalla, Jovanotti, Renato Zero, Ornella Vanoni and Loredana Berte`. Apart from music, he starred in 4 movies and 3 TV series and also published a book.
During his long career, Ron won 17 awards, including 2 Lunezia, 3 Special and a Venice Music.
