American actor and singer Tom Wopat was born 74 years ago as Thomas Steven Wopat in Lodi, Wisconsin, is married and has 5 children.
After finishing his studies at university, Tom made his small screen debut in the soap opera ‘One Life to Live’. He then rose to fame when he portrayed Luke Duke in the famous series ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ alongside John Schneider who played his cousin Beau Duke. Tom played this character between 1979 and 1985 in a total of 128 episodes.
After this action comedy series ended, Wopat embarked on a music career, mainly the country genre, but also including classic pop and rock and roll material. Over a span of 40 years, he released 11 albums and 13 singles between 1982 and 1991, with moderate success.
Tom, however, did continue with his acting career concurrently with music and performed/starred in numerous stage musicals, TV productions and films. These include ‘Carousel’, ‘City of Angels’, ‘Guys and Dolls’, ‘Catch me if you Can’, ‘The Dukes’, ‘Burning Rage’, ‘Blue Skies’, ‘A Peaceable Kingdom’, ‘Cybill’, ‘Home Improvement’, ‘The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion!’, ‘All my Children’ and ‘Longmire’. He has also appeared in 3 video games.
