American actress Michelle Doris Thomas was born on 23rd September 1968 in Brookline, Massachusetts and passed away on 23rd December 1998.  She was single.

Michelle’s mother, who was a stage actress, used to take her along with her when she had theatre rehearsals and performances.  Also as a kid, Michelle loved to sing and a friend of her mum’s encouraged her to compete in a local talent pageant which she successfully won.  Later, she entered another contest held in Jamaica which she also managed to win amongst 35 competitors.

Michelle’s acting career began on the small screen in 1983 by appearing in a TV commercial and the following year, she was a guest on a music variety TV show.  In 1988, she was cast in the famous sitcom ‘The Cosby Show’, in which she portrayed Justine Phillips in 8 episodes until 1990.  During the same period, she starred in a TV film and an episode of a TV series.

In 1991, Michelle had a minor role in the movie ‘Hangin’ with the Homeboys’ and 2 years later was offered to star in the popular sitcom ‘Family Matters’, in which she interpreted the character of Myra Monkhouse, girlfriend of Steve Urkel (played by Jaleel White) in a total of 55 episodes over a span of 5 years.  In addition, she also guest appeared in a couple of other sitcoms and voiced an animated character in an adult sitcom.  In 1998, Michelle was offered a role in the famous soap opera ‘The Young and the Restless’, interpreting Carrie Rogers in a total of 38 episodes.   The following year, she appeared in the movie ‘Unbowed’, which was released posthumously.

During the 90s, she appeared in 3 music videos of artists Mint Condition, Chubb Rock and Dru Hill.  In 1999, Michelle was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in the category of Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series.

Michelle passed away on 23rd December 1998 at the age of 30 from a desmoplastic tumour.
