
American actress Calista Kay Flockhart was born 61 years ago in Freeport, Illinois, is married to actor Harrison Ford and has an adopted son.
In her teenage years, Calista enrolled for an acting course at a University’s School of Arts and in 1988 obtained a BA of Fine Arts in theatre. The following year, she made her first appearance on the small screen in the famous soap opera ‘Guiding Light’ as well as in a TV special.
Her stage debut was in the theatrical play ‘Beside Herself’ in a New York theatre. At the beginning of the 90s, Calista starred in a TV movie and in a TV series episode the year after. Meanwhile, she debuted on the big screen in 1993 as an acting student in the film ‘Naked in New York’ and starred in 12 more movies until her last one which was ‘Fragile’ in 2005.
In 1997, Flockhart was offered the leading role of Ally McBeal in the legal comedy-drama series bearing the same name. Initially, she was asked to audition for a starring role but the producer wanted her to be the protagonist, so she auditioned for it and succeeded in getting the role. The programme aired from 1997 to 2002 for a total of 112 episodes.
Four years later, Calista was cast in another series named ‘Brothers and Sisters’. She interpreted Kitty Walker, which was also a leading role, for 5 years until 2011 in a total of 110 episodes. From then to date, she voiced 3 animated movie characters as well as starred in several series, both as a guest and in a recurring role.
During her career to date, Flockhart won 3 awards: a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors, Guild and a People’s Choice. She was also inducted in the Hall of Distinguished Alumni in 2003.
