American actor Brendan James Fraser was born 57 years ago in Indianapolis, Indiana, is divorced and has 3 sons.

When he was a kid, Brendan regularly moved to other cities and countries together with his Canadian parents and brothers.  After graduating from college in 1990, he had decided to further his studies, aiming for an MFA in Acting at Uni, but changed his mind after visiting Hollywood.  In fact, he moved there to embark on an acting career.

Brendan made his big screen debut in a minor role in the 1991 movie ‘Dogfight’, followed by a leading role in the comedy film ‘Encino Man’ and a part in ‘School Ties’ the year after.  Between 1994 and 1997, Fraser starred in several movies which were unsuccessful in the box office, namely ‘With Honors’, ‘Airheads’, ‘The Passion of Darkly Moon’, ‘Mrs Winterbourne’ and ‘The Twilight of the Golds’.  He also made cameo appearance in 2 other movies.  In 1995, he made his theatrical debut in ‘Four Dogs and a Bone’.

In 1997, his career took a positive turn when he was the main protagonist in the comedy film ‘George of the Jungle’ and rose to fame.  He became a global star when he starred in the 1999 fantasy adventure movie ‘The Mummy’, in which he interpreted the character of Rick O’Connell.  Two years later, he reprised this role in ‘The Mummy Returns’.  In between these 2 films, Brendan acted in other comedy-related movies like ‘Bedazzled’, ‘Dudley Do-Right’ and ‘Monkeybone’.

Since the year 2001 to date, Fraser proceeded with his career and appeared in over 30 movies of different genres including ‘The Quiet American’, ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’, ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’, Extraordinary Measures’, ‘Line of Descent’, ‘No Sudden Move’, ‘The Whale’ and ‘Rental Family’.  In 2026, he will be starring in 3 movies, namely: ‘Pressure’, ‘Diamond’ and ‘The Mummy 4’, which release dates are still to be announced.  Brendan also starred in numerous TV productions and voiced animated movie characters both on the big and the small screen, as well as appeared in a video game.

Fraser is also an active philanthropist and since 2018 has been supporting Abilis, which is a charitable institution that helps individuals and their  families with disabilities.

During his career to date, Brendan won 31 awards out of 80 nominations.  These include an Academy, 2 Critics’ Choice, and 2 Screen Actors Guild.  The majority of the awards won were for his interpretation in ‘The Whale’, winning Best Actor and rendering him as the first Canadian to win in this category.  Moreover, in 2006, he was inducted in Canada’s Walk of Fame and in 2002, he received an award together with his ex-wife for their supports towards ‘Abilis’ charity.
