American actor, writer, producer, TV director and former football player Thomas Mark Harmon was born 74 years ago in Burbank, California, is married and has 2 children.

After graduating from high school, Mark went to college where he finished an associate degree.  During those 2 years, he received various football programme offers and he opted for UCLA.  In 1974, he obtained a B.A Communications degree.

After finishing his studies, Mark thought about pursuing a career in law or advertising, however, he soon changed his mind and decided to embark on an acting career, debuting on the small screen by appearing in a commercial along with his dad.  In 1973, he guest-starred in an episode of the sitcom ‘Ozzie’s Girls’.

For the rest of the 70s, Harmon played roles in several episodes of TV series as well as 4 TV films including ‘Police Woman’, ‘All’s Fair’, ‘Getting Married’, ‘Sam’ and ‘The Love Boat’.  In 1979-1980, he appeared in 13 episodes of  the drama TV series ‘240-Robert’, followed by a recurring role in ‘Flamingo Road’, portraying Fielding Carlyle.

During the next decade, Mark acted in 7 movies, 3 TV films and 8 TV productions, with his most significant role being that of Dr Robert Caldwell in the medical drama series ‘St Elsewhere’, starring in a total of 70 episodes.

From the beginning of the 90s to date, Harmon continued with his acting and starred in 19 films and 26 TV productions.  Probably, his most famous role is that of Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the popular military police procedural series ‘NCIS’, of which he is also the executive producer.  Mark has interpreted this character from 2003 to 2021.  He reprised this same role in another 2 series ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ between 2014 and 2021, and ‘NCIS: Origins’ in 2024, and which he also executively produced.

During his career so far, Mark received a Prism Award and a People’s Choice Award, as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
