Claudio Enrico Paolo Baglioni was born 71 years ago in Rome, Italy. He is a musician, singer and song writer.
His 50-year+ career began in 1971 with the single Signora Lia, which, however, was of little success. A year after, Claudio rose to fame with the big hit which in 1985 was awarded as song of the century ‘Questo Piccolo grande Amore’.
In the following decade, Claudio had a string of other famous worldwide hits: ‘Amore Bello’, ‘E tu’, ‘Avrai’, ‘Sabato Pomeriggio, ‘Strada Facendo’ and ‘La Vita e’ Adesso’. These last two songs’ albums bearing the same name, are considered as the two best-selling albums of all time in his native Italy.
In these last 40 years, Claudio continued releasing many albums, compilations, live and DVDs. He performed in more than 2000 concerts around Italy as well as globally and sold over 60 million copies. Baglioni also achieved several awards including 6 Telegatti, 8 Vota la Voce and 8 Wind Music, amongst others. In addition, he wrote various books and participated in some TV shows.
For 2 consecutive years, namely 2018 and 2019, Claudio was one of the hosts of the San Remo Festival held at the Teatro Ariston, San Remo.
Interesting to note is that in 2007, Claudio released the Maltese song ‘L-ahhar Bidwi f’Wied il-Ghasel’, and became the first famous international artist to ever release a Maltese song in its native language.
