English former model and singer Mandy Smith was born 54 years ago as Amanda Louise Smith in Tottenham, London, is single and has a son.
When she was only 13, she met Bill Wyman, who is the guitarist of the band Rolling Stones. They immediately got into a relationship which came out in the open only 2½ years later when Mandy was 16. Naturally, it caused a lot of controversy since Bill was 34 years older than her. In spite of this, however, they got married 2 years later when Mandy turned 18, but divorced after 23 months.
In 1987, Mandy started a music career, with the release of the song ‘I Just can’t Wait’, which although was a flop in her native UK, was quite successful in other European countries.
A year later, her album ‘Mandy’ came out and included the hits ‘Positive Reaction’ and ‘Boys and Girls’. Mandy also released a cover version of the band Human League’s hit ‘Don’t you want me Baby’. Publicity for this song, however, had to be stopped abruptly since Mandy became gravely sick and could not continue to work. In 1993, she published an autobiography which was a best-seller.
In the 2000s, she ran a business together with her sister, was a fashion designers’ model as well as worked as a counsellor with teenagers who had troubled lives.
