American actor Matthew Ryan Phillippe was born 51 years ago in New Castle, Delaware, is divorced and has 3 children.
After finishing school, Ryan embarked on an acting career and made his debut in the daytime soap opera ‘One Life to Live’, interpreting the character of Billy Douglas between 1992 and 1993. After he left, Phillippe went to Los Angeles and obtained small roles in various TV productions such as ‘Matlock’ and ‘The Secrets of Lake Success’ as well as films like ‘Crimson Tide’ and ‘White Squall’.
In 1997, Ryan rose to fame after he starred in the horror movie ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ and for the rest of that decade, was given more significant roles in movies like ’54’, ‘Playing by Heart’ and ‘Cruel Intentions’.
From the year 2000 to date, Phillippe appeared in over 30 films of different genres including ‘Antitrust’, ‘Gosford Park’, ‘Crash’, ‘Breach’, ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’, ‘Catch Hell’ (which he also wrote, directed and produced), ‘The 2nd’ (which he also produced), ‘The Locksmith’ and ‘St Clare’. With regards to TV, he had main roles in ‘Damages’, ‘Secrets and Lies’, ‘Shooter’, ‘Big Sky’, ‘MacGruber’ and ‘Motorheads’, apart from guest appearing in numerous other productions. He has also appeared in some music videos.
So far, Ryan has won 7 awards, including 2 Screen Actors Guild, a Critics Choice and a Satellite.
