
American actress, producer, singer and dancer Goldie Jeanne Hawn was born 80 years ago in Washington D.C. She has been in a long-term relationship with actor Kurt Russell and has 3 children.
When she was 3 years old, Goldie started taking ballet and tap dance lessons and participated in a ballet production. Many years later, at the age of 19, she took part in a theatrical play as one of the main protagonists.
At the time, Goldie was attending university studying drama, but she quit and instead managed a school of ballet as well as gave dancing lessons. She became a professional dancer and appeared in a musical as well as danced in some nightclubs.
Hawn’s acting debut was starring in a sitcom in 1967/8, but international fame arrived when she was cast in a sketch comedy show for 5 years, and she became very popular. By the early 70s, she acted in 4 movies, and ‘Cactus Flower’ was the film in which she had a major role.
By 1990, Goldie has become an established movie star and acted in some films before taking a 4-year hiatus to care for her mum who had cancer. After she passed away, Hawn returned to the film industry in 1995 as producer of ‘Something to Talk About’ and as director of ‘Hope’ 2 years later. She reprised acting in 1996 when she was cast in ‘The First Wives Club’, starring also Bette Midler and Diane Keaton.
Since the beginning of her career to date, Goldie acted in over 35 movies, appeared in 5 TV productions and was the executive producer of several feature and TV films. Some of her most popular movies include ‘Shampoo’, ‘Foul Play’, ‘Overboard’, ‘Bird on a Wire’, ‘Death becomes Her’ and ‘The First Wives’ Club’, amongst others. She starred in 5 films alongside her partner Kurt Russell: ‘The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band’, ‘Swing Shift’, ‘Overboard’, ‘The Christmas Chronicles’, ‘The Christmas Chronicles 2’.
Apart from acting, Hawn released an album and 3 singles. In 2003, she founded a non-profit organisation regarding youth education programmes.
During her long career, Goldie received 13 awards, including an Academy, a Bambi, a David di Donatello and a Golden Globe.
