CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY TODAY... ANDREW SHUE

American former actor and soccer player Andrew Shue was born 58 years ago in Wilmington, Delaware, is divorced and has 3 children.  He is the brother of Elizabeth Shue, who is also an actress.

After finishing high school, Andrew attended college and was already a soccer player.  Then he travelled to Glasgow in Scotland where he spent a winter playing soccer with a team as well as studying.  Back home, he proceeded with his studies in 1989 obtained a B A degree in History.  Afterwards he moved to Zimbabwe where he was a high school math teacher and also a soccer player.

During the 80s, Andrew starred in 4 uncredited movie roles, two of which were ‘The Karate Kid’ and ‘Cocktail’.  In 1992, Shue was chosen to interpret the character of Billy Campbell in the then-famous soap opera ‘Melrose Place’ produced by Aaron Spelling.  He played this role for 6 years.  For the rest of that decade, he starred in 3 movies, one of which was ‘The Rainmaker’ alongside famous other artists like Danny De Vito, Claire Danes, Matt Damon, Mickey Rourke and Jon Voight, amongst others.  Since the year 2000, Andrew acted in only 2 movies namely ‘Gracie’ which he also wrote and produced, and ‘Goal! III’.

Apart from acting and soccer, Shue co-founded a non-profit organisation named ‘DoSomething’ which is aimed to help youths create positive changes globally.  Also, he co-created  and is on the board of directors of a social networking website named ‘CafeMom’, directed towards mothers and mums-to-be.
