
English singer/songwriter and musician Bryan Ferry was born on 26th September 1945, is divorced and has 4 sons.
As a kid, Bryan went to grammar school, worked as a paper boy and with the money he earned used to buy jazz magazines. He took a 4-year university course in fine art and even had his paintings displayed in a gallery. Whilst still studying, Bryan joined several bands and performed with them. After finishing his education, he became a pottery and art teacher and then pursued a music career.
In 1970, Ferry founded the rock band ‘Roxy Music’ with some friends and 2 years later their debut album came out, followed by a second one the year after, both composed by Bryan. Concurrently, Bryan released an album as a solo artist which was successful and reached 5th place on the UK charts and likewise, his second album issued the following year, placed 4th.
During the 80s, the band had 2 number one albums which featured the hits ‘More than This’ and ‘Avalon’ amongst others. They also had a number one hit single ‘Jealous Guy’. After ending a world tour in 1983, the band split and Ferry proceeded with his solo career. The group reunited again in 2001 and remained as such for 10 years, giving their last performance in 2011. Meanwhile, Bryan returned to performing as a solo artist.
As ‘Roxy Music’, the band had 33 albums, 8 box sets and 26 singles, whilst as a solo artist, Bryan had 36 albums, 40 music videos, 2 EPs, and 45 singles. Some of his most popular songs include ‘Slave to Love’, ‘Kiss and Tell’ and ‘Don’t stop the Dance’. Apart from music, Ferry appeared in some TV series and a movie.
During his long career, Bryan received several honours and awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award and was also inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
