American actor, singer and TV personality David Michael Hasselhoff was born 73 years ago in Maryland, Baltimore, is married and has 2 daughters.
David attended a private school as a kid, where he showed an interest in theatrical plays, performing in ‘Peter Pan’. He later graduated from high school and continued his studies at university and eventually obtained a degree in theatre from an Arts institute.
His acting career began in 1975 with a role in the soap opera ‘The Young and the Restless’, playing his character for 7 years until 1982. For the rest of the 70s, he starred in a few movies such as ‘The Revenge of the Cheerleaders’ which was his big screen debut and ‘Crash’.
From 1982 to 1986, David portrayed ‘Michael Knight’ in the famous action crime drama series ‘Knight Rider’, for which he received a People’s Choice Award. Then, in 1989, he was offered a role in another popular series ‘Baywatch’, which, however, was cancelled after just one season. But David saw potential in it and invested his money to revive it, as well as acting as executive producer. It was so successful that it ran for 11 years until 2001.
In the last 2 decades, Hasselhoff continued with his acting career and starred in over 20 films and more than 40 TV and internet productions, including animated movies and talent shows. David has also performed in 15 stage plays/musicals.
Apart from acting, David has also released 15 studio and 12 compilation albums and over 50 singles. His most famous hit is probably the 1988 single ‘Looking for Freedom’, which was a number one hit in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. He is also a motivational speaker.
