CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY TODAY...ED HARRIS

American actor and filmmaker Edward Allen Harris was born on 28th November 1950 in Englewood, New Jersey, is married and has a daughter.

After graduating from high school, Ed attended university where he studied drama, as he showed particular interest in stage plays.  He successfully performed in local theatres and then moved to California, took a 2-year course and managed to achieve a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Ed’s career started at the theatre in 1976, followed by several TV series roles til the mid 80s.  That same period, he acted in a few films as well, having both small and more important roles.

Harris became popular after acting in the 1983 historical drama movie ‘The Right Stuff’. Other films he starred in along the years include ‘The Abyss’, ‘Apollo 13’, ‘Nixon’, ‘Step Mom’ and ‘Mother!’, to name a few.

So far, Ed starred in over 75 films, more than 20 TV series and 11 theatrical productions.  He also wrote and/or produced/directed 2 movies – ‘Pollock’ and ‘Appaloosa’.

During his +40-year career, Harris received numerous awards including 2 Golden Globe, a Saturn and a Theatre World award.
