Italian singer Elisa Toffoli, simply known as Elisa, was born 46 years ago in Trieste, is married and has 2 children. She is also a songwriter, record producer and musician.
As a youngster, Elisa dedicated most of her time to singing, dancing, acting and painting. She was inspired by big artists like Aretha Franklin, Bjork, Jim Morrison and The Doors, amongst others. She wrote her first songs and composed melodies when she was 11 years old and 2 years later, she joined several local groups and performed with them as singer, musician and chorister.
In 1996, Elisa signed her first record contract and 2 years later travelled to California, USA, to prepare her debut album. A few months before it was released, her single ‘Sleeping in your Hand’ came out. The album was a really huge success, so much so that it rapidly arrived to quadruple platinum in her native country. She started giving live performances and collaborated with numerous local and international producers to create new tracks, plus some of her songs were used in some films’ soundtracks.
Her second album came out in 2000, and the following year she was encouraged to participate in the yearly San Remo Music Festival and triumphed with the song ‘Luce (tramonti a nord est). She competed once again in the festival in 2022, placing second with the track ‘O forse sei Tu’
In the last 2 decades, Elisa had 12 more albums and 45 singles, plus promotional singles and charted songs, tracks sung with other artists and numerous musical videos. She also wrote/produced around 30 songs for other singers.
During her career so far, Elisa received around 60 awards, including 2 Lunezia awards, 13 Wind Music Awards and a Nastro D’Argento, amongst many others.
