CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY TODAY... ERIC MCCORMACK

Canadian-American actor, singer, producer and writer Eric James McCormack was born 61 years ago in Toronto, Ontario, was married and has a child.

As a young kid, Eric was quite shy and did not like sports, however, he showed interest in theatre and did perform in some school plays.  Growing older, his passion for acting increased and he started taking theatre classes and continued taking part in school productions.  After graduating from high school, Eric took an acting course at university to ameliorate his acting, however, dropped out a few months prior to graduating in order to take part in a theatrical production.

In 1986, McCormack made his TV debut in the film ‘The Boys from Syracuse’.  In the next decade, he moved to the US and appeared in numerous movies as well as TV sitcoms, films and series.  These include ‘The Lost World’, ‘Street Justice’, ‘Double, Double, Toil & Trouble’, ‘The Man Who wouldn’t Die’ and ‘The New Adventures of Old Christine’, amongst others.

Eric made a career breakthrough in 1998 when he was offered to interpret the character of gay lawyer Will Truman in the famous sitcom ‘Will & Grace’ alongside actress Debra Messing.  This production ran until 2006 and returned with new episodes from 2017 to 2020.

After this popular show, McCormack went back to performing in musicals and theatre, and later on starred in more films and TV productions.  He even created his own production company and produced two projects.  Eric has also recorded a song and wrote/sang another one.

Eric is an active philanthropist and supports many charitable organisations including breast cancer, the sick and homeless, etc.

During his career so far, Eric starred in over 25 movies and 50 TV productions.  He has received 6 awards namely 2 OFTA, 1 Emmy, 1 Screen Actors Guild, 1 GLAAD Media and 1 Dixie Film Festival.  In addition, he was inducted in both Canada and Hollywood Walks of Fame as well as received an NBC Universal Canada Award of Distinction.
