American actress, singer, talk show host and businesswoman Jada Koren Pinkett Smith was born 53 years ago in Baltimore, Maryland is separated and has 2 children.
As a kid, Jada began showing interest in performing arts and took piano, ballet and tap dance lessons. She attended elementary school and proceeded with her studies in a performance arts high school, studying dancing and acting. After graduating, she continued as a drama major in a public high school for a year.
Pinkett’s acting debut was starring in an episode of the TV sitcom ‘True Colors’ in 1990. She then guest appeared in several other TV productions and the following year obtained a recurring role in the hit sitcom ‘A Different World’. 1993 marked her big screen debut when she starred in the teen crime drama movie ‘Menace II Society’.
For the rest of the 90s, Jada continued acting in numerous movies of different genres but rose to prominence after she starred alongside actor Eddy Murphy in the sci-fi comedy film ‘The Nutty Professor’. Afterwards, she had roles in ‘Set it Off’, ‘Return to Paradise’ and ‘Woo’.
In the last 2 decades, Jada not only continued with her acting career, but also entered in the music industry. In fact, she created a metal band named ‘Wicked Wisdom’ in 2002, as well as founded a music production company. Two years later, the group opened a number of concerts which were part of singer Britney Spears’ tour, and the following year, performed in the ‘Ozzfest’. The band’s debut album was released in 2006, and was promoted on a tour joined with another heavy metal band ‘Sevendust’.
As a businesswoman, in 1994, Jada created her own fashion label. In later years, she published a children’s book, invested in a beauty products company and an energy storage company, as well as founded a movie production company together with her ex-husband actor Will Smith and began producing films through it. Pinkett Smith is also an avid philanthropist and not only created the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation, but also helps numerous other charitable institutions.
During her career so far, Jada starred in over 34 films and 15 TV productions. She is also the producer of an upcoming movie named ‘Karate Kid’ which is expected to be released in May next year. She is the recipient of 7 awards, including 4 NAACP Image and a Daytime Emmy.
