CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY TODAY...JANE SEYMOUR

English actress and author Jane Seymour was born 72 years ago as Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg in Uxbridge, Middlesex.  She is divorced and has 4 children.

As a kid, Jane attended a school for performing arts and later chose the name ‘Jane Seymour’ after the third wife of English King Henry VIII, as she thought it would be more favoured.

Her first film debut was in 1969, and the year after had a major role in the movie ‘The Only Way’.  For the rest of the 70s, Jane starred in several films and TV series and earned international stardom particularly when she acted as Bond Girl Solitaire in one of the James Bond films ‘Live and let Die’.

At the beginning of the 80s, Jane appeared in a stage play named ‘Amadeus’ which was performed 1181 times and was very successful.  She then acted in various productions like ‘Somewhere in Time’, ‘East of Eden’, ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’ and ‘War and Remembrance’, amongst others.

Seymour became more popular when she was the protagonist of the famous 1990s TV series ‘Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman’ and its sequels, until 2001.  She then concentrated more on TV productions rather than movies.  In fact, she appeared in the series ‘Smallville’, the sitcoms ‘How I met your Mother’ and ‘In case of Emergency’ and the legal drama ‘Justice’.

Jane is also an author and has published 10 books, some aimed for children and others as self-help and inspirational books.

During her career, Seymour received 2 Golden Globe, 1 Emmy and a Saturn Award and was honoured with an Ellis Island Medal of Honour as well as appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
