CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY TODAY...JOHN WAITE

John Charles Waite was born 70 years ago in Lancashire, England.  He is a singer, song writer and musician.

John’s career started in the 70s with the rock band ‘The Babys’, of whom he was the lead vocalist.  In 5 years, the group released 5 albums and had 2 hits which reached the Top 20, namely ‘Isn’t it Time’ and ‘Every time I think of You’.  The band split up in 1980.

In 1982, John continued as a solo artist and his first album came out which included the single ‘Change’.  Although it did not feature in any music charts, it was very popular on radio stations and as a music video.

John rose to fame with his second album which included the number one hit ‘Missing You’.  The album that followed featured songs of soundtracks for a couple of films.

Then, in 1988, John formed the group ‘Bad English’ with other famous bands’ musicians and released the song ‘When I see you Smile’ which peaked to No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  The group, however, broke up in 1992 and once again, Waite proceeded as a solo artist.

To date, John had 17 albums, an extended play and 21 singles.
