English singer and songwriter Michael James Hucknall was born on 8th June 1960 in Manchester City, is married and has a daughter.
As a kid, he attended secondary school, then college, followed by school of Art as a fine art student. He loved music and his career took off in the late 70s, when he joined a group named ‘Frantic Elevators’, who together released 4 singles.
In 1985, Mick became the lead singer as well as songwriter of the soul/pop group ‘Simply Red’ and was particularly known for his long red curly hair. He spent 25 years with the band and over that time span they released 25 albums, 56 singles and 45 music videos. Their major hits include ‘Holding Back the Years’, ‘Money’s too tight (To Mention)’, ‘The Right Thing’, ‘If you don’t know me by Now’ and ‘Fairground’.
In 2008, Hucknall embarked on a solo career and his debut album was issued. To date he had 2 albums and 4 singles. He also collaborated with the release of other artists’ albums.
Mick is also a co-owner of a construction company regarding public buildings and city squares, as well as produces wines. He is an avid fisherman and football fan.
In 2011, Mick received a BASCA Gold Badge Award regarding his contributions to music.
