Irish singer and musician Paul King was born 63 years ago in Galway, County Galway, is divorced and has 8 children.
Paul studied at a drama school, graduated and for 2 years was part of the police cadets. Afterwards, he became a member of the rock-ska group the ‘Reluctant Stereotypes’ and together they released an album plus 3 singles in 1980.
The group disbanded shortly after, and Paul went on to form another band ‘Raw Screens’ which eventually changed its name to ‘King’ in 1984. He was the lead singer and got famous especially for his cockatoo haircut and his Dr Marten’s boots which he used to spray paint. In 2 years, the band released 2 albums and 8 singles, two of which singles went gold, namely ‘Love & Pride’ and ‘Alone without You’.
The group then split and Paul embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album as well as 2 singles in 1987, one of which was the moderately successful hit ‘I Know’. Since he did not achieve the expected popularity as a singer, Paul ‘abandoned’ this job and became a video jockey and infomercials presenter. He also produces shows for 2 TV music channels.
