Italian singer, songwriter and record producer Roberto Zanetti, (better known as ‘Savage’), was born 67 years ago in Massa in the Tuscany Region and is single.
Roberto’s music career began in the early 80s when he joined several bands, acting both as keyboardist as well as singer. In particular, he had a couple of successful tracks with the group ‘Santarosa’, and following this success, guest appeared in various TV shows.
Meanwhile, Roberto collaborated with several artists in the production of some of their albums’ songs and later set up his own recording studio and record label, where he started producing house music songs. Some significant hits he produced which all topped the charts were ‘Easy’ and ‘Cinema’ for Ice Mc and ‘Please don’t Go’ for the group ‘Double You’.
As ‘Savage’, Zanetti had 2 major hits released in 2 consecutive years: ‘Don’t Cry Tonight’ in 1983 and ‘Only You’ in 1984. Fir the rest of that decade and beginning of the next, he released some more singles, which however, were not as successful as the first two, so Roberto decided to quit his solo artist career and focus on production.
As a matter of fact, he produced singer Corona’s most successful tracks such as ‘The Rhythm of the Night’ and ‘Baby Baby’. Also, singer Ice Mc also had some big hits produced by Roberto, namely ‘Think about the Way’ and ‘It’s a Rainy Day’, amongst others. Singer Alexia’s songs were also produced by Zanetti, introducing her to the music industry, not just in Italy but also across Europe. Another famous Italian artist he worked with is Zucchero Fornaciari, with whom he was friends since his youth when they were both members of the band ‘Taxi’.
In 2005, he reprised his career as a solo artist and performed in some important music festivals, one of which was Russia’s Diskoteka 80. To date, Roberto released 3 albums and 23 singles.
