American actor Vincent Philip D’Onofrio was born 64 years ago in New York City, is married and has 3 children. He is also a producer, director and screen writer.
As a teenager, Vincent worked in several community theatres helping backstage in sound production and building of sets. His career began after he graduated from high school, and he performed in various theatrical plays plus studying method acting. In addition, he worked as a bouncer, deliveryman and bodyguard.
In 1984, D’Onofrio made his stage debut in the play ‘Open Admissions’ and 2 years later had a significant role in the film ‘Full Metal Jacket’ for which he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. For the rest of the 80s and the 90s, Vincent was cast in supporting/minor roles in various movies including ‘Mystic Pizza’ alongside Julia Roberts, ‘Ed Wood’ and ‘Men in Black’.
At the beginning of the 00s, Vincent proceeded with starring in movies and was also offered a major role in the popular TV series ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’ as Detective Robert Goren. After 9 years, he left the series but returned for a final season to boost ratings. Meanwhile, he continued his acting career and appeared in numerous films of different genres such as ‘Escape Plan’, ‘The Judge’, ‘Jurassic World’, ‘The Magnificent Seven’, as well as a number of TV series.
Apart from acting, D’Onofrio directed and/or produced various movies like ‘The Whole Wide World’, ‘Steal this Movie!’, ‘Don’t Go in the Woods’ and ‘The Kid’, amongst others. In addition, he debuted as a singer in 2009 and later on released two singles. This year, his children’s book ‘Pigs can’t look Up’ was published.
Later this year, Vincent is supposed to appear in a TV series named ‘Echo’ and is also currently filming another series called ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ expected to be released in 2024. He won Best Actor at the Stockholm International Film Festival in 2005.
