Saturday, 3rd February 2024, the much-awaited final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest was held in Valletta, and was hosted by Maltese presenters Angie Laus and Carlo Borg Bonaci.
During the months of October and November over a 4-week period, 9 songs were interpreted each week i.e. 36 tracks in all, out of which 12 songs were chosen by the Maltese public to compete in the final held last Saturday. 78% of the votes were given by a jury whilst the remaining 22% were given by the public.
The winning entry of this year’s contest was the song ‘Loop‘ interpreted by Sarah Bonnici with a total of 102 points. The track ‘Banana’ by Matt Blxck placed second, followed by ‘Karma’ interpreted by Ryan Hili in third place, with 80 points and 71 points respectively. These 3 contestants were awarded with a trophy each, whilst singers Greta Tude and Lisa Gauci were chosen for having the best music video and best newcomer respectively.
Coming May, Sarah will be representing Malta in the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Malmo, Sweden.
