Singer Maria Elena Vidal was born 62 years ago in Miami, Florida, is married and has a son.
When she was a teenager, she met a songwriter and producer with whom she began to write songs and consequently her career in music took off.
She created the group ‘Desmond Child & Rouge’ and went on to release 2 albums which were quite successful. In particular, they had a hit named ‘Our love is Insane’ which the band performed on a TV live show. Later on, the group were asked to sing in a comedy album which was eventually turned into a theatrical show. They actually performed both as musicians and actors.
After the group split up, Maria continued as a solo artist. In 1984, she became a real star with the international hit ‘Body Rock’ which was the theme song for the movie bearing the same name. A year later, she took part in the movie ‘Once Bitten’ and even sang 2 songs for it.
In 1987, her first album came out, which included the song ‘Do me Right’ which was very popular, particularly in South American countries. Two more albums followed.
Maria contributed with several artists by writing songs for them as well as acting as backing vocals. These include Belinda Carlisle, Aerosmith, Celine Dion, Cher & Bette Midler, amongst others.
