English singer Adam Ant was born on 3rd November 1954 as Stuart Leslie Goddard in Marylebone, London, is divorced and has a daughter. He is also a musician and actor.
At school he studied art as, according to his teacher, he was very creative and later took lessons in graphic design, however, he left school to pursue a music career.
His first experience in music was playing the bass guitar with a group named ‘Bazooka Joe’. Later he created the band ‘the B-sides’ and in 1977 formed ‘Adam and the Ants’. Their first album was released two years later and managed to reach number one on the UK charts. Adam then asked a producer to be his band’s manager, but instead this producer formed a new group with Adam’s other group members. Adam, on the other hand, re-formed the band with new members.
Adam remained with the group for a couple more years, during which 2 albums were issued and like the first one, were very successful. These included two number one singles ‘Stand and Deliver’ and ‘Prince Charming’ amongst others.
His first solo album came out in 1982 and included the number one hit ‘Goody Two Shoes’. Until 2013, he had released 6 albums which featured songs that reached the UK Top 20 charts, however, none of the subsequent albums were as successful as his first one.
Apart from music, Adam starred in several films, appeared in many TV shows/series as well theatrical productions. He also supports a charity based in the UK which helps people suffering from mental illness to have a better quality of life, after he personally had to deal with this illness for several years.
As of 2010, Adam gives frequent live performances in London and has toured several times his own country, the US as well as Australia. He was honoured with 2 Ivor Novello, a BRIT and a Q Award.
