Agnetha Ase Faltskog was born on 5th April 1950 in Jonkoping, Sweden, is divorced and has 2 children. She is a singer, songwriter and record producer and is best known as one of the members of the famous super group ABBA.
When she was just 6 years old, Agneta wrote her very first song and 2 years later learnt the piano. In later years, she created the group ‘The Cambers’ with 2 of her friends and together gave performances in local places, however, they soon split up due to lack of demand. Agneta left school when she was 15 as she wanted to start a music career.
She then got a job as a telephonist and at the same time joined a band with whom she performed and which became very popular, so much so that she had to choose between her job and music. Agneta wrote a song which was an instant hit in her native Sweden and sold over 80,000 copies. Another single followed and success continued. In 1972, she acted in the Swedish production of the musical ‘Jesus Christ Superstar.
In 1972, the group ABBA was formed, which included her husband whom she had married the previous year. Three years later, Agneta released her debut album which was a huge success and stayed on the Swedish album chart for 53 weeks. ABBA unofficially disbanded in early 1983 and Agneta pursued with her solo career and released 4 more albums until 1987, after which she took a 17-year break from music to dedicate more time for herself.
She resumed her career in 2004 and released 11 albums and several singles in the last 2 decades. She joined former ABBA members on two occasions, namely in 2005 for ‘Mamma Mia!’ musical opening and in 2008 for the ‘Mamma Mia’ Swedish movie version premiere.
In 2016, the group ABBA reformed, including Agneta, and they proceeded with releasing albums to this day.
