TODAY'S CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY... ALVARO SOLER

Spanish singer-songwriter Alvaro Tauchert Soler was born 35 years ago in Sant Cugat de Valles, Catalonia, is married and has a daughter.

When he was 10 years old, Alvaro moved to Japan together with this family and there he studied the piano.  After staying there for 7 years, in 2010 he returned to his native Spain and together with his brother and some friends formed a band named ‘Urban Lights’.  The band performed British and indie pop as well as electronic music and managed to obtain many followers.

Until 2013, the group produced and released some albums and other material, won a music contest as well as participated in a talent show, placing with the final 8 contestants.  Meanwhile, Soler continued with his studies in industrial design.

In 2014, Alvaro decided to leave the band to pursue a solo career.  Based in Germany, the following year he released his debut single ‘El mismo Sol’ which he co-wrote.  It was a successful hit, reaching number one on the Italian and Swiss charts and certified double platinum.  A couple of months later, his debut album came out, named ‘Eterno Agosto’.

In 2016, another successful single was released, named ‘Sofia’.  It peaked to number one on several European countries’ charts.  Soler also acted as judge in the talent show ‘X Factor’ in Italy and afterwards performed a couple of his songs with other singers.  He also voiced an animated movie character of the film ‘Encanto’ and performed a track in the movie ‘Despicable Me 3’. Between 2021 and 2024, Alvaro was a coach in ‘The Voice Kids’.

To date, Soler released 4 studio and 1 compilation albums, 2 EPs and 39 singles.  He won 6 awards, including a European Border Breakers and a Swiss Music.
