Andy Garcia, full name Andres Arturo Garcia Menendez, was born on 12th April 1956 in Havana, Cuba. He is married and has 4 children and is an actor and film director.
His acting career took off in 1984, when he starred in a small role in the first episode of the famous series ‘Murder, She Wrote’ alongside Angela Lansbury. The movie ‘The Untouchables’, directed by Brian De Palma, was Andy’s career breakthrough. Other famous actors who starred in this film include Robert De Niro, Kevin Costner and Sean Connery. Another popular movie in which Garcia starred is ‘The Godfather III’, issued in 1990, with fellow actor Al Pacino and actress Diane Keaton. For this movie, he was nominated for a Grammy as well as a Golden Globe Award.
In the last two decades, Andy produced a couple of films, as well as appeared in several TV series episodes including sitcoms like ‘Frasier’ and ‘Will & Grace’. In 2018 alone, he acted in no less than 4 films. His latest movie ‘Rebel’ was released in 2021 where he had the main role.
Amongst others, Garcia won 2 ALMA Awards for his performances in the movies ‘Desperate Measures’ and ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ as well as a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album for the 2005 song ‘Ahora Si!’.
