American actor Cuba Mark Gooding Jr was born 57 years ago in New York City, is divorced and has 3 children.
After he finished high school, Cuba took a 3-year course in Japanese martial arts and his first job was as a break dancer. During the 80s and 90s, Gooding had guest roles in various TV shows like ‘Hill Street Blues’, ‘Amen’, ‘MacGyver’ and ‘Coming to America’.
He rose to fame when he was offered an important role in the movie ‘Boyz n the Hood’, and continued gaining popularity by starring in big films like ‘A Few Good Men’, ‘Gladiator’, ‘Judgement Night’, ‘Lightning Jack’ and ‘Outbreak’, however, he reached the peak of stardom with his role in ‘Jerry Maguire’, alongside actor Tom Cruise.
Cuba proceeded with his acting career and acted in several other famous movies like ‘As Good as it Gets’, ‘Men of Honour’, ‘Pearl Harbour’ and ‘Radio’, amongst others. During the 00s, however, he appeared in less successful movies like ‘Norbit’ and ‘Daddy Day Camp’. Albeit, he continued acting and did have some important roles both in films and theatre. He even directed the movie ‘Bayou Caviar’ in 2018. Apart from films and stage productions, Gooding starred in over 20 made-for-TV movies, sitcoms and series.
During his +40-year career so far, Cuba won 9 awards, 6 of which received for his interpretation in the movie ‘Jerry Maguire’, as well as 3 NAACP Image awards. In addition, he also received a Public Leadership in Neurology Award in recognition of his charity work regarding Multiple Sclerosis.
