TODAY'S CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY... DANICA MCKELLAR

American actress Danica Mae McKellar was born 49 years ago in La Jolla, California, is married and has a son.  She is also an education advocate and mathematics writer.

At 7 years old, Danica started attending acting classes and as a teenager, became part of the cast of the famous sitcom ‘The Wonder Years’, where she interpreted the character of Gwendolyn ‘Winnie’ Cooper.  This show ran for 5 years between 1988 and 1993.  Afterwards, she guest appeared in several TV series and well as starred in some made-for-TV movies like ‘Cradle of Conspiracy’ and ‘Justice for Annie’.

To date, Danica acted in 25 movies, 5 of which she voiced animated characters, as well as starred in over 75 TV films/series/shows.  She has also written and directed 2 short movies and appeared in 2 music videos of singers Debbie Gibson and Avril Lavigne and 5 video games.

When she was 23 years old, McKellar obtained a BA degree in Mathematics from university and since 2008, she has written 10 maths-related books to help adolescents succeed in their maths studies.  In 2014, she received the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics Communications Award.
