American actor and comedian Danny DeVito was born 79 years ago as Daniel Michael DeVito Jr in Neptune Township, New Jersey, is separated and has 3 children.
As a teenager, Danny went to boarding school, then attended college, graduated and proceeded with his studies at a private drama school from where he obtained his second graduation. He used to work at his sister’s salon as a beautician and later performed in theatrical plays.
DeVito’s acting career took off in 1969 by acting in stage plays. His first big screen debut was in the 1970 movie ‘Dreams of Glass’, after which he was cast in a couple more films. Danny’s career breakthrough arrived in 1978 when he interpreted Louie de Palma in the sitcom ‘Taxi’, and helped him to become famous.
By the mid-90s, Danny not only had become an established actor, but also a movie and TV producer. During his +50-year career, he has starred in over 80 films and 30 TV productions, some of which were also produced and directed by himself. In fact, in 1991, he also founded a production company. Some of his most popular movies include ‘Jewel of the Nile’, ‘Twins’, ‘Matilda’, ‘Batman Returns’, ‘Junior’, ‘Hoffa’, ‘The Rainmaker’, ‘Big Fish’, amongst many others.
Danny received numerous awards including an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
