Singer Deborah Ann Gibson was born on 31st August 1970 in New York, USA.  She composes songs, is an actress as well as TV personality.

As a child she studied the piano, and when she was 13, Debbie took part in a song contest by sending in a cassette tape in which she recorded songs composed by herself and won a prize.  After that, her mum borrowed a sum of money to turn their home garage into a recording studio.

Debbie spent years writing her own songs and one day they arrived in the hands of a record producer with the help of a radio personality.  She was then offered a deal and toured the country by performing in several night clubs.  At the same time, she continued High School and eventually graduated.

In 1987, Debbie’s first album was released, including the hit singles ‘Only in my Dreams’ and ‘Shake your Love’, which both reached the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as the number one US hit ‘Foolish Beat’.  Another number one hit single was released in 1989, named ‘Lost in Your Eyes’.

During the next 3 decades, Debbie had 8 more albums and about 34 singles.  She also collaborated with various other artists like Jordan Knight and the boy-band New Kids on the Block.  Debbie acted in some movies as well as musicals, and appeared in several TV programmes.  She won several awards, including the Songwriter of the Year in 1989.
